F355 lights misbehaving

Having been running my 355 GTS regularly in this great weather, I came to drive home last night but the lights wouldn't play when turned on with the stalk. At the first position there was no side, rear and instrument pod lights but in the second position the head lights, both main and dipped worked OK. All other fog and brake lights are also OK. Fuses are fine and logic would say that it is the switch, anyone had a similar problem?
Serves me right for bragging in my previous post of how reliable the car had been - revenge of the Italian electrics. Thanks in advance.
