Weight of an S6 engine?

I noticed the other day that an old Autocar Cerb article quoted the kerbweight of the S6 cerb as 30kg heavier than the V8.

Is the S6 lump heavier than the AJP? Seems unlikely as their both all alloy...

Anyone know what an S6 engine actually weighs in at? I've heard as figure of 115kg dry (and minus ancilliaries) for an AJP - anyone care to confirm or deny?

Not certain but I've always heard that the S6 is the heavier lump. And I'd say the V8 is maybe even lighter than 115kg. I'm no he-man and when I took my race engine to the builders (with alternator, inlet manifolds etc attached, it was perfectly possible to pick it up by the water rails and chuck it in the back of a transit..

I nearly gave myself a hernia getting mine out of a van. Think it had the clutch and flywheel on but....

Would agree though, I reckon the 6 is heavier. I'd say the V8 is 150kg plus though.

I'd heard 123 kgs for the V8 and over 150 for the S6 - would make the +30 kgs about right. I guess that the more complex head arrangement makes for a good deal of extra weight on the S6 and also the block will be longer for sure.

I'd say there is atleast 30kilos difference, our T350 isnt that much lighter, despite being considerably smaller than our Cerbera. The S6 is bloody huge, and very tall, having them side by side is suprising, it is longer/taller/heavier up top definitely.

Recently weighed a 3.6 SP6 and an AJP8 4.5 whilst at Raceproved and the 6 was only marginally heavier than the AJP. I was surprised there was so little in it.

My memory is shocking and the absolute figure is now long gone from my head!!! I was at Raceproved delivering the S6 for the racer I got talking to Russ & Joo about possibly running an AJP the following season and I was interested to know the difference in weight between the engines. Just so happened Russ had an AJP on the floor ready for fitting into a car and the S6 was next to it. We weighed them as installs with clutches, manifolds etc (no oil tank or oil lines for the 6) and they were within a couple of kilos. I was shocked and tbh a bit disappointed cos I was hoping an AJP would save 30kg from the nose of car plus the massive increase in power and torque.
