Where should the ECU be bolted too? Mine seems to be laid lose on top of my battery which does not seem a sensible place for it!

That's how they al are, but I have fitted mine inside the dash above the Glove pouch! it just fits in and is now safe from water ingress and too much heat.
Has any one got a fault reader if so where do you buy them?
mine still misfires (on and off) and would like to see if there is a fault

I was more worried about it shorting out on the battery Ill have a go at squeezing it up there.
Buying a replacement chip. Does that just replace the whole ECU?
the new chip is just that, not a new ECU it plugs into the ECU, I have had a Mark Adams one, it was an off the shelf one, which has made a good improvement to the smothness of the car but it still runs a little rich.
I have a code reader you could borrow.
