Saw a lovely looking metalic blue 993 in the distance. As I caught it up I could see it was wide bodied and it was badged as a carrera S.

It had a different spoiler but the confusing bit is it had holes just in front of the rear wheel arches ala 965 turbo S.

Did they come out of teh factory like this or is it an after market job? If so why leave the carrera S badge on?

From memory the holes in fornt of the rear wheel arches were a were a cost option on the wide bodied cars.

Carrera s is the 2wd variant based on the widebody like the TT...often the rear spoilers are changed to mimic the TT.
The rear vents could have been aftermarket but were an X number option on the TT bodyshell at the end of the 993's lifespan. Actually standard on the rare 993 TT S (31 rhd cars).
A lot of options were put on to jazz up the last of the 993 to get them out of the door as the 996 was imminent.
