T5 gearbox, which oil to use.........

I have a T5 gearbox fron a TVR that is going to be fitted into my V8 Ginetta.

I have heard all sorts of stuff about ATF fluids versus gear oil etc

What do you all use and what does TVR recommend etc etc

don't know the grade i'm afraid, but sure a call or look at the website would reveal the recommended, and i can't be arsed to open the car up again - sorry!

When I spoke to Castrol Technical Help they advised that you use Automatic Transmission Fluid in a T5 gearbox.

Try ringing them on 01793 452222 and ask for their technical help department. When I last rang them (a few years ago) they were very helpful and I have been following their recomendations ever since with no problems.

According to my hand book and the engine plate it takes Mobil ATF 220. Which is the same as the power steering!?
