Is there a Doctor in the House - Bruise
Discussion
Hi All,
On Sunday I got a real hard kick to the shin during football.
I know, it was the one time I played without shin-pads.
It hurt like hell and a lump about the size and shape of half a chicken breast appeared almost immediately.
The swelling has now gone down and a large bruise and swelling is appearing around my ankle. My ankle does not hurt and is fine but I still can't even stoke my shin, it really hurts.
The bruise around my ankle, was not there when I went to see the Doctor and he said it would be fine and there is no fracture.
Is this something I should be worried about???

It's just bruising tracking out through the tissue planes, with gravity encouraging it downwards. If there is no pain, nil to worry about mate.
This.I had an identical injury a few years back, after a couple of days my leg was back to normal, beyond the bruise anyway!

Yes, you can see this phenomenon in the morgue when the blood in dead people drains to it's lowest level. I presume you are not dead?I can semi-relate to this, had a major op on my knee last week and my knee has been like a balloon for the past week or so! What I was advised is to keep the swollen bit elevated above my hip because when the fluid from the swelling goes down, it will go where gravity says and so could end up in my ankle instead of my torso where i want it to be.
Ice and elevation and brufen should sort you out, nothing to worry about
