New Clutch Flexible Hose / Master Cylinder Needed - Help!!!!

My CMC is leaking more than ever now so looking to replace it ASAP Can anyone tell me which one I need, where to get one and what sort of a job it is. TVR car parts stock them but I am sure I can get one cheaper! Please can someone who has fitted one advise me. Also considering a flexi pipe rather than the rigid copper one. Agaan can anyone tell me where to get one of these made up. TIA

I replaced both my clutch cylinders recently and land rover 90/110 parts fit nicely. This thread has the details but I can confirm that landy part 550732 fits for the master but it has a different thread on it so you can't just swap the pipe over. Then again the cylinder is only about £10.

You might want to check your slave as well, mine was leaking badly and corroded internally. May be worth doing them together and replacing the pipe too. The only difficult bit with the replacement was getting the damn pipe to fit. It takes ages of gently bending the pipe round and wobbling it to get the thread to line up properly.

Pringli - Thanks for the offer but can't escape tomoro as made plans to go to the coast not sure where yet though, likely to be or Filey or Scarborough. Is the one you have a new one as not wanting to sound ungrateful it may be false economy to fit a used one. Could you post it ??

Yes can post if you like - it is used but recon - was keeping as spare after total rebuild of the S but car since sold and m/c is still on shelf in garage.
ps I sounds from previous thread of yours like the union that is at fault - I cannot remember what thread it is but I can remember it is unusual.

Hello everyone I have been to hydraulics place today to enquire about getting a clutch flexi for my S3 made up. They can do it but need to know what type of end fittings are required. I know the thread sizes but they also need to know what shape the end fitting is that it would mate with i.e either concave or convex. One is easy as I have a Master cylinder but forgot to take this with me. (dope) This looks to be concave at the base.

What I need to know is what is the slave end like is it concave or flat. I have taken some pictures of the fittings they have in stock in hope that one of you will be able to advise on which type is required. I am guessing its the same as the Master Cylinder but a picture of the inside of a slave would confirm my guesstimation! Pics of fittings attached...


The 90 Deg fittig should fit the MC and the other male should I hope fit the Slave. Please can someone confirm the slave shape for me. TIA Damon. Fitting type also affects price by a large margin so I need to get it right. Once I get a price I will share it with you all.

both PIPE ends should have convex ends I am sure, therefore the fittings should be for convex flared pipes

Ian thanks for the advice on end fittings. Good news is I got my flexi made up today offered it up to the car and it looks to be a perfect length, went for 900mm of pipe as the end fittings are about 50mm each so overall length is 1000mm (1metre) the price.....£24.99 plus the VAT so £29.99 all in. Assembly was £5 of this but he knocked a bit off. Fair price I thought. Just need to fit it now and will confirm if its all ok.

Good and bad day today! Bad bit first didn't go on Wolds driving day as weather was a nightmare early doors but I got it wrong as it turned out to be a cracker after the early morning monsoon. Good bit... decided to fit my escort mirrors, got one done and it looks superb. Thanks for advice on here it helped me know end those 7mm screws are a bu**er but got to them ok. Door panel going back on was the hardest bit but fiddled and it dropped on nicely. New mirrors are very secure I made a backing plate and bonded it on, let it dry then filled the void left by old mirror then attached the new mirror. No more unsightly screws, Wahuu!! Friend arrived after lunch and I showed him my clutch flexi, to which his immediate response was lets get on with it. Well chuffed as couldn't of bled it on my own, and it got air locked so it took a while. Anyway all good now with and gears are spot on. Thanks for advice on that also, in particular Pringli who donated the new master cylinder. Pics attached. Clutch flexi

Glad it could be put to good use, looks nice and tidy with the flexipipe too

It would be worth getting a cable tie on that flexi to pull it up away from the exhaust as best you can.

Chris - pic makes it appear close to exhaust manifolds in reality its well clear and doesn't get hot.
