Stolen & Recovered

In brief a friend of mine was recently burgled in the middle of the night of which they took his and his partners car keys & Car.

He had reported it to the insurance company & police however 18 hrs later the car was found just 5 miles having run out of fuel.

The insurance hadn’t paid out and the car is back in his possession without any damage, just needing the locks changed as they still have the keys.

Will this be listed as a Cat D Stolen & Recovered or is it only if the insurance pay out?

He in the process of selling the car however wasnt sure if the car will now have any negative history listed against it.
