Holiday in France for 5 young people
Discussion
Looking to go away for a couple of weeks this year. Trying to keep it as cheap as possible. So far I have looked at Les Sables D'olonne. Prices are around £300 each for 5 people to stay in a 3 bed caravan type thing.
Looking for somewhere with a bit of action, enough to keep 5 twenty somethings entertained.
We've done all the lads holidays 2 weeks boozing, Zante, Malia etc. Looking for something a bit more chilled out. Laze around on the beach all day, come back to caravan, fire up the BBQ and drink a load of stubbies & wine from the Super-U!
Any recommendations?
Thanks.

Plenty of places to choose from a little further south from Les Sables
We rent a mobile home in La Tranche sur Mer in June half-term time. La Tranche is a south facing bay on the coast.
Lovely beach, good local restaurants, not wild nightlife, but quite a few bars, sailing/windsurfing/kiteboarding, etc., all available

Thanks for that. We're not fussed for crazy nightlife but as long as there are a few bars open til a decent hour that will be find, i'm sure it will be a good laugh! Do you know if the campsites are strict on single sex groups? I have only seen it specified on one website. Obviously I will check before I book it & have already e-mailed a few places but no response as yet.
I'm an old duffer aged 40 with 2 primary school aged children ... what would I know
I don't know if that site has rule about same sex groups, but it is very quiet from 10pm onwards.
AFAIK, many sites along that coast are 'quiet zones' from 10pm.
That said, if you're going in the height of season, I suspect you won't be any noiser than the hoards of children that will also be around!

Very true! I've been to sites in St Jean de Mont before and usually there would be a band/entertainment on til midnight and then it was lights out type of thing. Obviously some people would still sit out after that but as you say, everything is quiet. Wonder what time the bars stay open til? I read of one nightclub in Les Sables D'olonne so might be better sticking to the bigger towns?
When I were a lad.....
We went to a caravan campsite at a place called Canet Plage, had a great time, good beach over the road, funfair, bars, and one of the highlights a site organised 5 a side footie match in a world cup stylee, we got beaten by the Germans in the Semi's (yes really) but had a great couple of weeks.

You will find it dificult to find a decent campsite that will accept you as a group of lads.
Your best bet is municipal sites, they are also alot cheaper.
The price you are quoting is quite frankley rediculous for a mobile home. For that sort of money you can buy all your own gear.
2 3/4 man Decathlon tents £200
5 cheap sleeping bags £100-£150
1 cooker £50
If you're sensible you could be fully kitted for £500-£600

And IME France, particularly in the sticks, is a bit quiet for nightlife. Chilling by the Barbie is obviously fine but bars and nightclubs are dire for single blokes outside the cities.
