It will be a year since my last service (6k) in May. I have only done 2000 miles since then...oh the shame of it! What do people recommend I get done?

I want all the fluids changed, diff, gearbox, brake and clutch but what about the engine? No point having the tappets done yet. Anything else I should get done?

I suppose what I'm asking is what is involved in a low mileage 12k service?

If it's due a 12K service and you want all the fluids done, then you may as well have the full 12K done, you need to see how many miles since the last 12K service/or when the valve clearances were last checked to decide if you think they need checked again.

As for only doing 2000 miles....I have only done 600 in the last two years!

The last 12k service was before I bought the car as a cat D. Since then it has had a TVR Power engine rebuild and 1000 mile run in service and then a 6k service.

If you've only done 600 miles, what servicing have you had done in that period?

My Cerbera is in getting a12k service even though I have only done 3k miles since the 6k service. I just feel better getting the car a full check over and the difference in price is not that much, shop around my car is at BHP in Blackpool.

I did around 2.5K miles in a year following a 12K at TVR Power. Dom did an interim service for around £300 if I remember correctly. He said that was fine but he recommended a 12K every 2 years even if you're doing low mileage.

AFAIK the 12K includes throttle body balancing, geo set up and a full inspection including things like the Anderson connector

Have a chat with Dom at Power he does a low mileage service.

Im not sure every place changes all the fuilds as routine on the services? I'll stand corrected but i dont think a clutch fluid & brake fluid change is part of a service?

I think diff and box is every 12 service / 2 years though.
If you want them all done you may as well go for the whole service and if you didnt get your tappets checked last year they are def needed this...again i dont think they are checked as routine on a 6k...

I just had a similar dilemma. So Dom did his low mileage 6k service and did the fluid changes I wanted as well, plus a quick look over the car and addressed other issues I had raised.

The trouble with 10 year old TVR's is that a garage that knows the cars will always find extras that need doing frown

Whereas the ones that don't know the cars, wont be able to get the bonnet off or get out if they shut the doors

I also had the same dilema, Bought the car with power rebuild and the 1000 mile running in service done, a year later had covered a further 2500, so had the 6k service. Next year I will get a 12k service that way keeps the booked stamped and shouldn't have any warranty issues. That's my thinking on it.
