PH Le Mans Meet: 10/06/11

Join PH at Le Mans for the most relaxed PH meet yet.

Le Bounty - a place of pies and Pride
Le Bounty - a place of pies and Pride
For many, including the PH team, the countdown to Le Mans has already begun. I'm not sure why, but this year seems to have a buzz of excitement that's been missing for a few years. Maybe it's the good weather, maybe it's the Aston Martins, maybe it's Gulf colours or maybe it's just because we can't wait to relax in the sun with mates, beers and racing?

Either way we are about to make the wait even harder by introducing the 2011 PistonHeads Le Mans meet.

Thanks to Le Mans based PHer lowdrag, we have a brand new venue offering ample parking for 150 cars (if more space becomes available we'll let you know) called 'Le Bounty' and based a short distance outside of Mulsanne.

Le Bounty is licensed and offers a wide range of food and drink, but most famous is the home-made pie and chips, washed down with a pint of London Pride (or alternatively more French classics, such as 1664). Once you are full, you can wander out into the sunshine (fingers crossed) to enjoy the cars parked alongside the lake, relishing the fact that you have all the time in the world to relax and enjoy the setting.

Imagine this filled with Le Mans chariots

The majority of the PH team will be there to welcome you (Riggers, RacingPete, Stuart and me) from 13.00 on Friday 10th July and the event will remain open throughout the afternoon. Although 150 spaces are available initially, as people come and go we should be able to accommodate many more throughout the afternoon.

To keep things interesting we hope to give a few prizes to the best Le Mans chariots, team-themed vehicles and other cars that catch the eye. When we say prizes, we mean things like a PH T-shirt rather than a solid silver trophy (before you rush out to commission a £5000 paint job to ensure success).

Mr lowdrag advises that sat-navs aren't much help in this area, so make sure you make a note of these directions and pass them to your co-driver:

Head south on the road to Tours from Mulsanne, cross the first roundabout, and then about 1/2 mile later turn left where there is a small industrial area on the left, then first left into the lakes (although you should stop before you hit the water).

Alternatively, if you're feeling brave, we're informed that this sat-nav address:
La Fuie Garnier,
72220,
Teloche

might get you to where you want to be...

If you plan to attend the meet, please add your name to the calendar here.

Thanks to John and the team at Le Bounty for having us and huge thanks to lowdrag as without him none of this would have happened. We look forward to seeing you there!

I'll be heading along to look at the nice cars gathered again.

(NOT having a go at the hard work that must go into organising things)... but I will miss heading down to mulsanne on the Friday. Although if the event had out grown the area and there were problems with the local mayor, then things had to change.

Don't bother, Le Bounty is a terrible place. No, don't go. There's nothing good there. Certainly stay away. There's no positive outcome if you venture there.

I'll be there, with at least one other S2 and a couple of other cars

Except 300 odd PHers, 150 cars, the PH team and a bit of good banter?

For all who have signed up, you need to sign up individually for each car

Some have said 'plus x,y and z' but can you please sign up for each so we know the numbers? Many thanks smile

Not working for me frown When I click to add myself, i get an "Oops, you need to be logged in..." message, even though I am.

EDIT: Restarted Firefox and it worked, name added to the list! Do I win anything for potentially having the most boring car that will be there?? hehe

Glad to see it is filling up! the point of this list isn't "who can come and who can't" but to help get an idea for the catering. I shall be at St. Saturnin all morning so won't arrive at the meet until about 2pm I guess. Still, I hope someone offers me a London Pride when I get there!

Looking forward to it... God knows I'll get lost on the way. I'm camping in the P'heads field, convoy?
