Oops - I managed to get tax camera's twice in the space of two miles in the early hours (London) the other night.

Yes, I know I'm a retard, but still how low are the speed limits in London !

Second was dual carriageway, no junctions, 3am

First was careless, second was stupid.

Here is hoping it's only 6 points on a clean licence.

How easy is it to get banned these days!!

No points, 5 years plus then wham!

Have you considered looking where you are going and paying attention to the road, rather than just zooming round like an idiot??? They even paint them bright yellow so you can spot them easily you know............

If you can't spot a scamera, you aren't watching the road properly.

You might like to write to your elected representative, in the hope that they will agitate to get the laws changed. In the mean time, unfortunately the camera fines are a tax that you pay only if the car that you have agreed to be held legally responsible for is caught on camera being used to commit the sort of criminal offence that you have agreed to be held responsible for by default, should the car be caught doing such a thing.

This sort of "tax" is more usually knows as a "fine" wink

on another note wasn't there a guy who successfully appealed that he had never stopped exceeding the speed limit since setting the first one off and thus it was just the one single offence? and just the standard 3 points/£60 rather than 6/£120

There may indeed be mileage in requesting these be treated as one offence; nowt to lose...?

Thanks for your kind words Vladimir and Max Torque

Nip received - it was just after 2am and it was Tower Bridge, hidden cameras I think you'll find. To 'preserve' the look of the monument.

Oh yes - and 'zooming around' wasn't really what I was doing. It's the first time I've driven over there, 20mph limit and I was doing 35mph

I think BRAKE have a forum, maybe you two should check it out biggrin

It's not hidden, they're average speed cameras and very clear to see with warning signs as well http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&q=tower+br... With a clean licence you may get offered a speed awareness course though so don't panic just yet.

Sorry Jagracer - this wasn't average. I got double flashed and the letter I received states that they are hidden cameras to protect the look of the monument

Where abouts on the bridge was it and where did you get flashed the other time? I didn't know they had these on the bridge but either way you may still get the offer of a sac.

Fingers crossed Jagracer

It was just after entering it. To be fair I was tired after a long day at work, and obviously made a mistake but hoping penalty isn't too harsh as 20mph is quite a slow speed, as is 35

If it's any consolation I've never seen anyone, nor do I know anyone, who doesn't do 30 in a 20.

I live quite close and walk/drive over it often. It's average speed cameras. And they aren't hard to spot.

Hope they are lenient.

I never do wink I use the Blackwall tunnel while the road works is on and this weekend the Rotherhithe southbound both of which are 20 mph with average speed cameras. I tend to drive up to 30ish on occasions but let my speed drop to, or just below 20 in places to bring the average down to somewhere in-between, I'd do the same on Tower bridge but I didn't realise there is a gatso on there as well so there's a bigger chance of getting caught.

There isn't. With a better arm I could hit it with a rock from here. Do I have to walk over there and double check?

I believe you but that means racermdr didn't get flashed on the bridge.
As for the fact he has aBMW M3 means he'll lose his licence is crap, I have a 16 year old Corsa and that's quite capable of attaining 30mph with a tail wind.

That's really interesting, and I'm genuinely not doubting u. I did get double flashed tho. The faq with the nip suggests it was a hidden camera. I'll read it again tomorrow when I get home. It said something like 'why are the cameras not visible?'. Answer - to protect the look of tower bridge.

I was hungover this morning when I read it, so I'll double check.

Plus average cameras don't take a pic do they? Ive got several pics with the letter

Strange that they sent pictures, we've had 4 NIPs in our household within the last 5 years and not one has come with a picture. I thought they don't need to provide evidence until it goes to court.
edited; Reading your duplicate thread in spl you now say Tower Bridge area, so probably not on the bridge but more likely The Highway or Tower Bridge road but if you read it properly it'll say exactly where it is.
