Now I've got my car out of storage and back to my new garage I'm about to start finishing the project I started a long time ago.
As well as replacing the ECU with a Megasquirt (and various other mods) I am also replacing the carpet and moving the battery to the boot.
Problem is I have a 'tandem garage' so I have the same width restrictions as a single garage effectively, just a lot more room at the back for a workshop storage area.
I am also replacing the Citreon mirrors with VW ones (already have the mirrors and spacers), and replacing the covering on the door cards.
To make things a lot easier I am considering removing the doors. Any ideas on how involved this is, and any pointers on how to go about it?
As I'm taking the carpet out, I'm guessing I should be able to get at the area the doors are bolted through quite easily?

As I'm taking the carpet out, I'm guessing I should be able to get at the area the doors are bolted through quite easily?
Taking the doors off needs two pairs of hands at the last moment of the process.
Start by peeling back the A post carpet and disconnect the wiring plugs for the door.
Remove the door speaker.
Loosen the two 8mm pins that go through the sill on the bottom hinge, beware the door will drop.
Remove the top hinge pin via the speaker hole, this is a 10mm pin so requires a 17mm spanner, however you can only get a part swing on the pin, it is FAR easier to use a 3/8 air ratchet to wind the pin out. Ensure someone is holding the door.
Remove the two lower hinge pins that you loosened before.
The door will now be loose, then finally remove the wiring through the A pillar.
It might be worth taping the edges of the door prior to removal incase the door moves in a way you weren#t expecting....

Psgr door off - single handed not the easiest job (need to get some mates).
Top tip on the air ratchet (17mm socket for future ref).
