Help diagnosing a 'chirrup' from my clutch...

I own a mk1 Focus, bought about 6 months ago with 17k on the clock and a years T&T. However, when I pull away, either from a full stop or just a slow 1st gear junction, there is a quiet yet noticeable noise from the car/clutch/transmission (???), that happens when the clutch is disengaged and I accelerate away. It sound's like a cross between a squeak and the noise a tyre makes when it struggling for grip.

I do not drive the car hard at all, there's no point in London in a Focus FFS, and as it's done so few miles for a MK1 I wondered if the PH massive has any idea's as to what it could be?

It's due it's MOT soon but without driving it the problem won't be noticed I'm sure will not be noticed so I'd like to point the mechanic in the direction of the problem if possible and say 'look there please'.

Any idea's as to the solution, or what I can ask the mechanic to do while MOT-ing the car?

At that point it's a whole clutch replacement job.

You will get everything you need in a clutch "kit" and do the whole lot at once.

Also, which bearing do you mean, what caused it and how can it be avoided in future?
The car was a motobility job before my ownership.

Its a common noise on small Fords just ignore it.

Nothing that won't involve removing the gearbox - lots of labour charge for a relatively inexpensive part. Turn the radio up and rethink the issue when it becomes really noisy.


(Or buy a Haynes manual and some rudimentary tools...)

The part isn't too bad, your looking at around £100 for a clutch kit.

Not sure what removing a clutch is like on a focus, but the majority of your bill will probably be labour.

A quick google search is looking at around £300 for the job (including parts)
