Got the car back on the road following service and ride height change

Got to a junction, and no drive. Slight bang from the back, clutch seems fine but no drive.

HELP!

No previous dramas with clutch, easy to engage gears. Drove down fine.

Any suggestions?

Any quick fix or should I just recover it to a garage....

Jump under the back and give the drive shafts a waggle, Sounds like one may have let go ?

Don't think it is a driveshaft.

Can engage all the gears, no crunching

No drive.

Drive shaft wont affect gearbox, just drive to that side wheel and the diff will kick in so no drive to other side.

Driveshaft looks intact, where would it break and anybody else had it. Could it be dislodged. Have to check it prop turns. Defo more movement in drivers side but not rattling around. Can't find anything in the bible about it.

Hi Maurice,

Only had a set of plugs and a set of leads, this is the first time in k's of Km with no problems. Might be me anyway, all a learning curve as they say.

I put a set of cans on as the roads over here are terrible and a pothole rip a can apart, added to the fact that someone had the altered the ride height too low!

(and my heater worked!)

and I did buy it as a project!

Break in the joint which are inside the rubber boots at each end of the driveshaft.

Had a look, at first glance looks ok. Starting it up, put it in 5th and noise coming from Diff. Crawled underneath and can see this.

So clutch ok, driveshaft ok, what has happened to the diff. Anyone got any details on the diff is it a ford item?

Neill,
Believe the BTR diffs (think I'm right on this) are also fitted to the Vauxhal/GM/Holden V8 VXRs.
Ho idea if the final drive ratios are the same though.

Fixed, must have disturbed the output shaft messing with the suspension. Quick knock back with a hammer/long piece of wood and job done. 50 miles on, no problems, oh yes, yes, yes.....

Clarkson is right - you can use a hammer to mend a car!

Well done, glad you are back on the road

Bit of a panic, put it all back together, started it on the stands without the wheel to check all ok, rattled like a pig, forgot that the discs aren't held on. Put the wheels on and it was fine. Phew.....
