I love my Griff.......but pieces fall off!!!

Hi guys,
Starting to get into the Griff now, the power is awesome! The gearbox and clutch feel agricultural but much better when you are pushing on rather than in traffic.
I had cracking run down the A606 last night from Nottingham to the A1, it's a great feeling having enough power to overtake just about anything...anywhere.
However.....truning along this afternoon at about 20mph and the drivers side wing mirror fell off! thankfully it isn't too badly damaged and at least it didn't fall off on the A1. It looks like the attachment plate has sheared across the two arms that hold the mirror to the aluminium carrier insert in the door. I guess I need to take the door trim off to get the carrier out but any ideas where I can get a replacement steel section?

It is probably the toadstool that has sheared off. Are there three 'prongs' sticking up from the door and from the base of the mirror?
If you have electric mirrors then it is door trim removal time I think. I've just tried mine buy my arms are too big to get into the door panel via the radio speaker. I can get to one nut but that leaves two others.
The other option is to cut the wires although that is not my favourite method.

It is the three pronged mushroom that has gone, it looks like it has fatigued.
I am going to see if I can steal an allen key off my Dad that I can modify to get to the grub screw but it is really really close to the door skin so not sure that it will work.
The other option will be to try to grab it with some pointed mole grips to undo it, I wil try to make some kind of mod to improve the doing back up bit.
Cheers for the reminder of the spares Andy, ill have a check when i get back home. I am off on a rally from Braintree to Audley tomorrow, shame she isn't going to look quite so perfect.

I think you Are !!!Cheers for the help chaps, I have a new mushroom on order. I am also going to use the opportunity to try to get the electric mirrors working, I have had a play around with the mirror unit and all of the motors are working so I hope it may just be a switch issue. BTW never knew these cars had heated mirrors, which of the unmarked buttons turns that on then!

Actually I would, and that's kinda the point isn't it. If it's yours our expectations can be adjusted accordingly. Would not be so well sorted by my standards though, but that's just me of course.Though I'm shocked your Griff demonstrates many silly little faults your long term ownership hadn't sorted, and your efforts to help others, filming stuff and such like, has many here telling us how great your Griff was / is. Just goes to show, popularity amongst friends and forum buddies goes a long way when selling, but there does seem to be some misguidance in all this.
Frankly I think it wrong these issues should be overlooked in TVR world as it makes the market more of a minefield than it already is. Let's not forget your buyer turned down other Griffs before choosing yours. Whilst your buyer believes they might have made the right choice I bet they're a little pi55ed off some unexpected issues have cropped up so soon. So I don't have a problem speaking my mind if as in this instance it highlights some Griffs aren't all they're cracked up to be. Not to say you could have been more honest, but if I bought your Griff I'd be a bit miffed to say the least it turned out not to be a fully sorted turn key example. 17 years old well sorted or not quite, I don't find it acceptable for anyone to describe your Griff as one of the best when doing so misleads the market. That's my opinion on a car - not you personally, so no need to get your knickers in a twist. Anyway, you sold it. You're happy. Deal done. Have a nice day.
For the record, I am massively happy! It is a credit to Quinny that my Griffith is as good as it is! He also told me everything that wasn't perfect before I went to see it . Also I defy anyone to buy a 17 year old car (for sesible money) where everything is as good as new! Anyway isn't the fixing and sharing the fixes part of the fun! Thanks again Quinny, I love my Griffith!
