Mini Cooper S clutch squeak

I have a Mini Cooper S which i had in a dealer last week, i have asked them to service the car and notify me if there are any problems i that need to be aware of. they told me the clutch needs to be replaced as there is a squeak coming from it. I have only got the car, it is 2006 and it only has 58k Km's on it. i have noticed the clutch is slightly heavy (and from driving other Cooper S' i thought was normal) I'm planning to do a trip around europe and i'm wondering is a new clutch necessary or is it something i shouldn't be concerned about
