Which means that civilian drivers of Gallardos with the same scheme are going to have NO problem finding an empty stretch of road... Nice.

Crockett and Tubbs were targetting drug dealing scum (apart from when crockett lost his memory for a few episodes), this car will be used to catch speeding motorists (not just the dangerous ones). The gift issue is a bit like a drug baron donating a rehab centre to a town whilst tripling his turnover elsewhere.

This isn't anything new really.

Dodge gave the Mexican police a Viper to patroll a long straight motorway for a year or so.

Initial publicity then no-one thought anything more of it and the press didn't care...

give it 2 months and the Gallardo will be destroyed (can't resell such a car, the Viper was destroyed after service) and it will be all back to normal.
