What is the law regarding which trucks are permitted to use the outside lane on a 3/4 lane carriageway? It there a weight limit or is it ruled by vehicle type/number of axles?

Anything over 7.5 tonnes isn't allowed in the outside lane of a 3/4 lane carriageway. I believe it's also the case for any towing vehicle, and a vehicle with more than 8 seats.......
