Recommend me a soft top cleaner

The roof on my Wife's Beetle convertible is starting to go a bit green in places. Can anyone recommend a cleaner to get it off ?.

I've used Autoglym on the MX5, came in a 2 part pack with reproofer.

Does it get the green off easily, or do you have to scrub it with a brush ?. The last time I cleaned and re-proofed the hood I used Renovo. I found it ok, but the green came back quite quickly. The car is parked mostly in the shade next to a few conifers.

Has anyone tried a multisurface ECO algae cleaner ?

Autoglym kit and a one of those nail scrubbing brushes. Did my mums mini last year and it still beads up water.

The AG kit comes with a "free" sponge.
From what I've read you could clean the roof with washing up liquid, rinse well & reproof with a variety of products.
If you choose to use autoglym don't pay full price, get it on one of the multi buy deals.

Halfrauds have got a 3 for 2 on car cleaning chemicals, Autoglym included

I swear by the Renovo stuff from MX5parts for my MX-5 vinyl roof.

Worked an absolute treat for me

And for the rear screen (if it's the plastic one) I used the BMW convertible screen cleaner - nothing came close to it

Are all of these methods good on both vinyl & mohair roofs?
The mohair on my MX-5 could really do with a good scrub as starting to get a bit green at the bottom.

I cleaned my hood last summer, the previous owner used to get it cleaned at a hand car wash, who pressure washed it, leaving it saturated with water which didn't dry properly, and subsequently became mouldy ...









Autoglym Fabric Hood Cleaner was my weapon of choice ...



What came out was disgusting, and smelt like a stagnant pond ...



It look a few hours, but it was worth it ...

Renovo for me. I've used it on the saab for the last few years. Also they do a hood restorer to bring back the black colour nicely.

Fabsils fabric cleaner and proofers - cheaper and better than Autoglym IMHO.

I use 303 Protectant on the vinyl roof of the 350Z and find it really good.

I liked the Renovo stuff, seemed much more effective than the Autoglym even on a pretty clean roof. I think it's due to the brush on and dry-in application.

Also I found using a brush got a lot more gunk out than using that sponge thing that Autoglym supply.
