Quick question...

what websites/resource do you use when choosing tyres. In the next couple of months i'll need a set of 245/45 R19's for the barge and I was not sure of which brand to choose. It is currently shod with Yokohama Advan's but I think that perhaps there are better brands our there ..

Not sure where to look for reviews - aan anyone suggest a resource.

Cheers. I look at the PH one, but http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/ doesn't have enough reviews really to make an informed choice.

I also use 'tyrereviews' - normally plenty of reviews on there...

Also worth checking out model specific forums, usually plenty of opinions to be found.

This one takes some reading but if you've got the time you might think the advice worthwhile.

Personally, I chose Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas in a similar size to what you're looking for, which seem to be pretty good. But it's early days so I don't know how well they'll wear or what they're like in the rain.

Only tirerack and mytyres' owned tyretest have more reviews.

What car / tyre are you specifically looking for? The best bet if it's something obscure is to get into an owners forum of the same vehicle.

Tyre performance varies greatly between different types of car. What works well on a small FWD hatch may be an utter ditchfinder on a RWD saloon. Find as many owners' clubs as you can, and see what others are using.

Vredestein ultracs are a fantastic tyre for all conditions. I had these on my previous focus ST and they were better than the dunlop sp sports which were on previously. Quiet too and there is a stockist based in hull who specialise in them, costs are about £90 per corner when they are as good or better than tires which are twice that. Www.tyremen.co.uk
