My 2nd passion (after my bmw), has always been DJ-ing.
Im 41 and still love 'mixing' dance music, anyone interested can hear me live 6-8pm on renegaderadio.co.uk, or download any of my last 30+ sets free from there.
Any other pistonheaders have the mixing bug, or maybe even oldskool ravers like myself ?

I've done a fair bit over the years. Moved onto Ableton these days but I do still have a pair of Vestax PDX2000 and a DJM 600 mixer for live stuff biggrin

I keep flirting with mixing and producing... both badly.

Cool. Old skool show right now. biggrin

I've been semi-pro for a few years now, last year played Ibiza, Hungary, Maldives and... errr... Nottingham (!). Don't do it for anything but fun, via word of mouth really. For the last two years I have released 2 mashups as singles which have got a little play.

Setup is 2x CDJ 1000, 2x Vestax p1000, Xone92 mixer, with a Kassoilator and a EFX1000 module.

Loads of free mixes here: http://www.djschrism-don1.com (House and Trance)

I've been doing it for 15 years now, still a hobby but I love it. I'm another Ableton jock, using my macbook pro, djm 800 various midi controllers and an iPad. I play out fairly regularly doing private parties, but also play for Houseproud, Ginger Pussy and can be found at East village in Shoreditch on 7th May playing at Prologue alongside Norman Jay and Terry Farley. I started out on 1210's and then CDJ 1000's but love being pretty technical so Ableton is defo the future for me.

I used to play proggy/ deep trance type stuff, but more recently in my advancing years play deep house/tech house or anything I like thats cool.

Check my soundcloud page for a couple of cheeky mashups, and my most recent mix Night Shift smile

Currently DJ'ing still.
Got my first set of Numark starter decks when i was about 15/16.
My mates brother was a DJ & i thought it was a cool job.
Currently have a residency Saturdays @ the best local club in my town.
I also cover for DJ's at their sister pub.
Started out mainly as a Hip/Hop & R'n'B DJ but as the commercial scene stepped in in my town i had to change my hand as nobody round here know's good or new music.
I now play anything from Hip-Hop to D'n'B & every form (pretty much) bar hard house & trance inbetween.
I mix everything as i cant scratch for Toffee!
Currently using Serato on a Mac as it saves lugging Vinyl & CD's about everywhere but i have a wallet of back up CD's!
Weapons of choice.... Technics 1210's.
By far the best invention in DJ'ing!

I do a fair amount of mixing/mashing using my trusty Korg Triton. I'm rubbish at live real-time stuff, but can do a pretty good job sampling it first then programming/sequencing it.

Nik, was renegade radio broadcasting a few years back on fm (pirate even)? I remember listening to a station with renegade in the name when I was younger and haven't been able to find it in ages. Cheers for linking to the station.

Seems there are quite a few DJs on here.

Check out mine and a few mate's FB page for a place to listen to and upload mixes, should find us under BS37.

My mates did their first gig the other week at a local bar, went down pretty well so we're hoping to get something a bit more regular out of it.

We also try to broadcast a live set every two Saturdays over FB using ustream.

I'm using a Vestax VCI 300 at the moment - so quite a simple set up but it works well. We're starting to experiment with Ableton and controllers to get a bit more variety into our sets.

I used to play a lot too. Started out just doing it for a bit of fun doing mixes for mates. Then got booked by The Gallery at Turnmills. Played there several times warming up for Timo Maas, Nick Warren, Matt Hardwick, Futureshock.... Also won a few DJ mag competitions and was mentioned by Danny Howells in DJ mag's Top 100 DJs as a DJ to watch out for.

I then had to decide whether it was worth taking further but I've got a fantastic job that I didn't want to leave so that was that. Still play every so often although no longer out in clubs. Feel very lucky I played where I did and gives me many fond memories.

My equipment is 2x1210s
2xCDJ-1000S
Allen & Heath Xone 62 Mixer

bow Nice one - the Howeller's possibly my fave DJ ever - absolutely top bloke too, one of the nicest guy's on the scene for sure... I don't think my head would fit through the door if I was heralded by him musically!! biggrin

Another bedroom/ club/ back to bedroom DJ here - I was playing out every other weekend or so a couple of years back, getting a set in Turnmills via some very good friends shortly before it shut frown...

My career's more important to me these days - partly as I needed to grow up a bit, partly because the scene around here's gone from being verging on 'cool' (and allowing me to push the deep/ prog sounds that I'm most into) and gone back to mainly tacky bars that want to skimp on equipment/ DJ fees and put cheesy nights on instead! frown

Thanks. Yeah Danny Howells has to be my favourite DJ too. A really nice chap and an awesome DJ. I was never even expecting it. I was just reading the mag and saw my name. To say I was shocked was an understatement!

I've just had a quick listen and it's sounds great so going to download it for my holiday I go on tomorrow. thumbup

Everywhere seems to be going the mainstream route nowadays.
When i first started my residency we were playing a bit of everything, except cheese, r'n'b & hiphop.
Mash-up tracks, a bit of indie, commercially house, d'n'b etc.
I played on Saturday & went main-stream all night, nothing cheesy, just current clubby stuff, anyting from Dev to a bit of Flux Pavillion & DJ Fresh (ok that's cheesy) at the end.
For the first time in ages it was packed until lights up @ 3!
