Can you really run a tuscan on normal unleaded?

I've been reading the mytuscan website and its saying that normal unleaded is suitable except for trackdays where super must be used.

Now to me this seems odd, surely supers got to be better for a near 400bhp engine?

According to the TVR Tuscan handbook, it's exactly stated as on the mytuscan website.

Personally I think it's down to you what you want to put in, my tuscan always loves me a little bit more when I put V-power (optimax) in, it sounds better and runs better (just a tiny bit). Don't forget that the car has been set up for normal unleaded unless it's been chipped/modified!

It will run on normal unleaded and the closed loop fuel system will compensate, however it will always run better on 98+

Ah. The one im getting this week has just had a full power build and 3 year warrenty from feb this year so i'll be putting super in.

You also have to use a semi synthetic oil rather than a synthetic. The terms are on TVRPower's website

Always put V-power or super unleaded for my Tuscan. Say you do 6000 miles per annum, and the difference between normal unleaded and super unleaded is about 7-9 pence per Litre. You are only talking about circa £120 odd more for the whole year. I think it is worth it for the sake of looking after the engine.

I've been using 95 for day to day driving and super for proper blasts for 8 years/40k ish miles now. I don't see any additional mpg on super at all and the only diff I can feel on day to day use is that the motor is a bit happier on very cold starts in winter.

How does that work then? Speed Six doesn't have knock sensors.

Higher octane gives you more pops and bangs too

Mine does not like 99 octane and idles poorly. 98 or 95 and she's fine but pinks badly on 91 so avoided unless absolutely necessary.

I haven't measured it in the Tuscan but in my 350Z I used to get noticeably more mpgs on 98 RON than on 95. Just assumed the same would apply. I stand corrected if this is not the case

My Cerbera used to like fuchs octane booster, ran better more pops and bangs and longer flames out the back

Mine runs on normal and puts out 342bhp at the fly so not too bothered. Might get a little bit more with V-power and she does get that now and then.

As Dave says the TVR ecu does not adapt as no knock sensors. Unless your map has been set to run on super, you won't really get any more power, just a bigger safety margin if it's hot/running on the lean side etc.
