911 3.2 info needed/suggest me a familly friendly sportscar

I own a TVR Chimaera, I love it to bits but I hate the fact it's a 2 seater, I'd love to take the family out in it, I only have one 2 year old so small back seats would be fine..
I'm looking to sell the Chimaera, which is mint great colour full history ect and buy something that will put nearly as big a smile on my face but i can get my nipper in the back..
I cant stretch to a Cerbera which would be the obvious choice and would ideally like a convertible targa or T bar roof..
I'd also prefer it to be more 'classic' than 'modern'
I have a Modern Tdi golf as a daily and a dirty great 4x4 for work and my wife has a modern Honda cdti estate so practicality or mpg is not an issue, I just hate using my TVR 'just for me' I know that would be a plus for many people esp as my wife is mad about the car and finds excuses for me to use it, but I'd rather take my family with me everywhere if i could!
The only car I can come up with sub 10k that is sporty makes the right noises and 'fits' is the late 80's 911 3.2 Targa, I know it's not as pretty as the coupe, but it looks to give me the wind in the hair bit I crave and is a good bit cheaper to boot..
I am a mechanic by trade so maintenance etc isn't a problem
Q1: are the back seats in a 911 actually useable for little kids?
Q2: do they have/or can the be fitted with rear 3 point belts
Q3: is a sub 10k 911 3.2 Targa a good choice
Q4: Any other options I haven't considered?
Bear in mind I'm coming from TVR ownership so I don't expect huge reliability, and i would prefer to buy a car I can imporove on so minor work would be preferred, which helps keep it in budget as well!

I say "worst Ferrari ever" but to be honest compared to the nearly new Ford Fiesta you could buy with the same money, it's not that bad really, is it?

I've only had experience of one 911, a 3.2 air-cooled with G5 box, which a collegue chased around for, for ages. It was also around the £10 mark. The rear seats will be fine for little ones.
Biggest problem was, it was cr*p. Every body work seal leaked water, the engine needed an immediate £2k rebuild, due to oil starvation, the interior was truly aweful, it looked dreadful cosmetically, and the noise from that air-cooled flat six was so loud, and not in a nice TVR way.
Also to remember, is that, from that era, you are going back to the point where Porsches had, how can we put it, unpredictable handling on the limit, or as the enthusiasts called it, usually via a medium, character. Alot of road side trees breathed a sigh a relief, when Porsche started to tame the 911, with what's known in the modern world as handling.

I had a 3.0sc for a couple of years. Paid just over £8k for it and sold it for a few hundred quid profit. The only breakage that I had was a clutch, other than that it was pretty reliable and never failed to put a smile on my face.
The guy that bought it off me had already looked at loads of them and whilst I didn't think mine was a total minter it was tidy and proper and he pretty well snapped my hand off. I'd guess that in that price range (prices have gone up since I think) you'd be looking at a lot of sheds before finding a nice one.
