New rear Toyo's and its a bit all over the place??

Toyo Proxes T1S on the front (had these last year.. no problem) but new Toyo Proxes T1R on the rear (had Bridgestones last year)… and it feels a bit all over the place?.. they grip much better than the old ones... just feel very 'soft?'
Had the Geo set up… and then re-checked.. all okay there… Done about 200 miles now… I did hear they need to bed in but how far is required.. Is this the issue or is it the softer side wall I just need to get used to?
Put it this way, I now have both hands on the wheel at 80 as it’s rather twitchy where as last year it was solid as a rock?? and it tends to wander a bit??
Running 25 rear and 23.5 front… Any thoughts??

I had this issue on the G33 with T1R's on the back and Dunlop sp9000 on the front, as soon as I put the same tyres all round it was fine

They get better with use, either Spend's hooligan way, or approx 200 miles.

24 front 26 rear is what I used with the Toyos..... I found the T1S to be like driving a bouncy castle, bloomin horrible...... the T1R much more to my liking.

Cheers guy's.... The S's were on the front last year and I found them to be fine... It's the introduction of the R's on the rear thats made is feel as you say... 'a bit like a bouncey castle'....

I've done 200 miles now and they may be a tad better.. but not great... may be another 200 will sort them out??... And getting some heat into them (although I don't feel like hammering it into the bends at the moment... tends to lurch in at the rear a bit.. rather disconcerting what!)

I think the S's were the last set sold.. put on just before I bought the car so about 3 years ago (date code confirms)... they are fine and have about 6mm of tread so a shame to loose them... O.. and I don't smoke . yet.. but as this rate..............

Neil Garners advised me that T1S's dont really like to mix with other tyres. TBH if the issue isnt sorted after a couple of hundred miles, I would put the same tyres all round.

I also found that the T1S (or maybe the R?) has a very soft side wall and benefited from a couple mnore PSI

As already pointed out T1-Rs have very soft sidewalls & do need to be inflated a little higher than other tyres. Great tyres though.

As Hoover said. I have T1Rs and infalet to 24 front, 26 rear. Feels much more stable at those pressures. Any lower and the softer side walls do give that bouncy castle feeling.

As others have said, don't mix T1R's with another type. I had SO3's on the front with loads of tread and fitted new T1Rs on the rear - the handling was more than character building .
I now have T1Rs all round, upped the psi by a couple of pounds to compensate for the softer walls, and it's back to sweet handling again.

'll try the burn up first see if they get better. It's the R's I'm having bother with.. not the S's... they were okay when mixed with Bridgestones... If they don't improve then it's R time for the front also... Shame as the S's are still very nice.... But... It's a bit like being at sea!!... And I can't live with that!!

I had exactly the same issue when I swapped to T1-Rs on the rear.... I really did not like them at first. I was advised that they needed to be worn in. After about 300 miles they were much better but still not as good as the Bridgestone SO2s they replaced. I bought a set of Toyo T1Rs for the front to match the back and as soon as these were fitted order was restored.

I am a big fan of the T1Rs now.

Strange, I have had a set of T1-Rs on the front of my 172 Cup since I bought it with the original Michelins on the rear, no problems at all even when hillclimbing it.

Switching to R888s for hillclimbing this season, can't wait to see what difference they make.

Thanks guy's... I think it's clear what needs to happen... T1R's all round if they don't bed in... .

You'd think with em both being Proxes they would be okay together, but guess not... The mix before worked well so happen the fronts not as critical??? (you'd think the front would be the issue set??).. See how it goes anyway... thanks for you info
