Las Vegas - best hotel for 30th trip ???
Discussion
Sorting out a trip to Vegas for my 30th at the end of the year. I've told the guys that I'll sort out the rooms and they just need flights. I've stayed at the Bellagio before so was looking at a couple of the suites there. Anyone got any other ideas for a decent place for 8 guys to stay. This is going to be the last trip we have as all settling down with babies etc so what something pretty special.
hotel budget around £5k for 5ish days but obviously thats flexible
cheers

We've just got back ourselves for 30th's. Said it would be our last but we're already looking to book again.
Stayed at the MGM and thought it was nice. Pool areas are great. Its huge.
Didn't see the rooms but went to casino/Marquee and Cosmopolitan looked fantastic.
You'll have an amazing time.

Without a doubt I would reccomend the Encore.
I have only been once to Vegas once but the friends I went with have been a fair few times. My friends have all stayed at some of the other high end hotels and still say Encore is by far the best. Excellent rooms service and the view we had was phenomenal.
Also staying at the encore will let you get into Tryst or XS which otherwise are quite hard to get into. Not normally one for going to clubs these places are defiently worth visiting.

I would say you should be looking at the Wynn/Encore or the Cosmopolitan. There is also the new Manderin Oriental which is very nice and a little more quiet but still in the right part of the strip. I also like staying at the Four Seasons with the family, but it is much further away from the busy part of the strip. I think the Bellagio, Ceasers Palace and Venitian, although nice and busy, are a little too.... typical of what to expect from Las Vegas.
The Hotel at Mandalay bay, http://www.mandalaybay.com/?CMP=KNC-Google-Mandala...
We had a superb suite there.
And make sure you go to The Mix on the 64th floor, http://www.mandalaybay.com/nightlife/mix-lounge.as...

Yes, I realise that, despite the thread title.Les
I should add that 'best' is rather subjective when it comes to Las Vegas.....
Best novelty hotel, best gambling hotel, best value, best location for the all that's glittery on the strip? or maybe the least like any of the above?
Upgraded to a suite at the Mirage last year - very nice, centrally located (unlike Mandalay Bay or the Luxor), quite smallish (relatively speaking), topless pool and home to the best Cirque du Soleil act in town - the Beatles 'Love'.
No doubt not all of the above will appeal to a gang of lads

The Four Seasons is my favourite to stay in with the wife. The rooms at the Four Seasons are great and if you are lucky enough/pay enough to get one of the better rooms you will have one of the best views of the strip. (If not you will have one of the best views of the airport)
But if I was going with the Lads and had some idea of recreating the "Hangover" I would be looking at "The Hotel" at Mandalay Bay. You can get a huge suite for the price of a normal room at the Four Seasons. In fact, when I last went to Vegas we could have exchanged our 4S room or a 3 bed room suite with a living room and dinning room like the hangover. We didn't go for it because our friends were getting married in our hotel.
Also, be aware that the Four Seasons, The Hotel and Mandalay Bay are all in the same complex and share facilities. The 4S pool is private but closed before 5pm when we were told to go next door.

We are going to Vegas in October and spending a few nights at the Bellagio and one at The Platinum Hotel which came highly recomended on TripAdvisor (2nd of 284) and is of the "new" type and is not a casino as well.
I wouldn't trust Tripadvisor, personally. The reviews on sites like booking.com seem to be more reliable, IME.I'd sign up for deal notifications on as many of the hotels as you fancy, after booking something that you're happy with at a price you're ok with.
We've stayed at the Wynn and Bellagio. Did the above for the Wynn and ended up getting an offer that made it cheaper than staying at the Flamingo. All the direct rates usually able to be cancel up to the day of arrival.
My opinion on the two I've stayed at is:
Wynn, nice modern rooms, much quieter foot traffic from non-guests having a snoop/gamble. The location isn't as good as the Bellagio IMO but you have the mall over the road. TBH Vegas is that big it can take 20mins plus to walk out of one hotel into the one right next to it. Never struggled to get into any of the restaurants. Found the staff a bit snooty at times.
Bellagio, older less impressive rooms but fountain view room is well worth it. In short if you put the Wynn where the Bellagio was it's a much better proposition. The Bellagio is a Vegas land mark and pretty much in the centre of the strip because of this the general areas are mobbed with non-guests and it's almost impossible to eat anywhere unless you book ahead (we found anyhow).
Pool areas at the Wynn is much nicer IMO and far quieter, pool area at Bellagio was like a 18-30 hotel on steroids.
