Good (and free) photo printing software!!?

Hello,

Can someone help me out please?! I'm going mad trying to print photos.

All i'm after is some basic software that means you can print your pictures out in 6x4 or 7x5 EXACTLY as you took them. I have Picasa and MS office photo printing software (XP) on my PC but these programmes always crop the pictures way too much and i just can't find any settings to get around this. If, for example, i choose the 'shrink to fit' option, the pictures then print out too small for frames with 6x4 and 7x5 openings, even though it retains the original borders of the photo.

I'm either missing something really simple or the software i have is friggin useless

So, all i want is some basic software that will allow me to easily print 2 of 7x5's or 3 of 6x4's on one sheet, with the printed photo appearing just as i took it.

Cant you just use the wizard that opens when you click the print icon in windows XP picture viewer.

I'm sure this lets you set us the print size area etc.

AFAIk there will be cropping or white borders if the aspect ratio doesn't tie up. Most DSLRs have a 1.5:1 ratio copying the full frame 24x36mm ratio, whereas compacts try to match computer screen sizes.

McFlurry has it - these sizes have different aspect ratios, so without cropping something your request is impossible



As for getting an image to print to fixed dimensions, oddly enough I use a text box in MS Word - it works very well and is totally accurate!

Just make the margins all '0.00' and select 'no line' for perfect results. Then Insert > Photo, stick it in and if it needs resizing, hold Shift and drag a corner to suit. To select the box and not the photo (in case you need to move the box) click the photo, then Up arrow will move you to the box.

As usual with these things, it looks far harder in text than to actually do it!
