Hi, not the most precious metal on the forum, but ticks the boxes as a second car for the time being.

For some unknown reason I like Citroen's, and currently own two; C4 daily, family car and Xsara vts as second.

Both are in great condition, with lowish miles and have been reasonably reliable for french cars - I'd be lying if I said 100%!

Time for the picture - I realise I have left myself open for obvious jokes (French car next to a rubbish bin.....).

And while i'm here, one of the C4.

The cars in good condition, but has only covered 63k. The picture was taken today after a quick clean.

They perform well, and can suprise more expensive cars!

I've got a VTS engine in my 205 and it really is a stonking block, makes a great noise and has great midrange pull!

I don't mind Citroen's either,

I like the Xsara and it's an unusual colour. The C4 looks nice from the outside but I don't think I could get on with the steering wheel, but I guess you get used to it.

Nice Cars. thumbup

Odd cars, Citroens. There is just something about them. You probably have similar seats to what I had in my Saxo VTS. So comfy yet supportive.

That said, never liked gold, and would be hard to pick the Xsare over the Gti6 Pug.

The Xsara looks lovely. Is it similar underneath to a 306?

Nope, it's basically identical expect for some details from a chassis point of view.

IN actual fact some say it's a better steer than the 306 gti6 - it has a faster steering rack, more camber on the rear and stiff rear torsion bars. These can (and are!) frequently retrofitted to 205s and 306s.

brakes are literally identical, gearbox obviously only has five gears but the turning circle is a lot better on the Xsara than on the 306.

Most would agree it's not as pretty, however!

They do share most parts, however the brakes aren't identical because Peugeot and Citroen just stick whatever is available to their cars. Which is a lot of fun when you need a new master cylinder and you have a choice of seven furious

Thanks for the comments, the Xsara vts is underated, lots of mid range power and lovely engine noise. I was'nt sure about the colour at first, but I now like it - easy to find in a car park!

The picture was taken from it's best angle, being a phase 2 it has the revised front end - the later phase 2's have lower front bumpers with fog lamps, which improve the look of the car.

The car stands me 1500 including purchase (2010) and the major service (2011). A very warm hatch with 63k and fsh for 1500 - not bad value in my opinion.

I have the same engine in my 306 biggrin

I agree with the midrange and inlet manifold noise smash
