I know there is some kind of formula that can be used to work out how much (in weight) of paving sub base would be needed to fill a certain area, but I can't find the flipping thing anywhere!!

Does anyone know roughly how much Type 1 would be needed to fill a ~25sqm base at a depth of around 100mm?

Most aggregate tonne bags hold 1/2 a cubic metre on average.

You need 25sqm x 0.1 metre deep

= 2.5 cubic metre so 5 tonne bags should do it

Bear in mind if you're using a whacker plate or anything useful it might be worth adding 10% to account for it being compressed.

As mentioned above but the easy way to remember is 1 tonne per 5sq m at 4" depth. From that you can work out any requirement in terms of amounts for a given depth.

Infact most aggregate will cover that amount.
