Help with Coolant Leak ...

Hi guys,

I recently got coolant hoses fitted, but still seem to have a coolant leak :-(

Have a look at the piccy below - you can see the damp patch in middle of piccy.



Can see the leaking coolant up close - sorry image out of focus a bit.



What is it that is leaking and where can i buy a replacement.

its called a banjo(spelling) bolt, its a hollow bolt that water flows through to the turbo. There should be two washers on each bolt. check the washers are ok or try to tighten a bit.

I see the hollow bolt (B.33) and washers (B.34) in the manual - and that matches with my leak definitetly.

Have you any idea of the size of these bolts + washers and where i can buy replacements?

in the T25 turbos each turbo has an M14 and an M16 banjo bolt. i bought some from south west lotus only the other day. they got the parts sent direct from noble in a couple days. I think about £8 each off the top of my head.

The washers are crushable so you might get away with nipping the banjos up a bit judging by the small amount of fluid loss.
You'll need 19mm & 22mm spanners/sockets but the actuator bracket bolt will be in the way of one of them, not much access around there so I'd try tightening before completely removing if I were you.

Any thoughts on whether i could get a replacement crushable washer from B&Q / Halfrauds / ebay or somewhere similar?

Pass - I know Halfords do a kit of crushable copper washers but whether that kit extends to what you need I'm afraid I don't know. I did reuse all of mine when I replaced my hoses for silicon and removed the feed/return pipes completely so that's why I said have a go at nipping up.
I'd also give your other turbo a quick once over while your at it.

A lil trick that worked for me with a copper washer that leaked. Is heat the washer up with blow torch leave to cool on it's own. It then goes back to original shape and can be reused and should form a nice seal again. Worked for me on front and rear bango.
