Samsung UE40D8000
Discussion
What is your opinion on this TV gents?
I am looking for an LED back lit tv, and have warmed towards Samsung, as the picture is stunningly sharp without pixelation. This was after looking at a similar Sony, which was a more 'warmer' picture.
I was impressed with the fact you can watch Youtube vids and browse on this tv, as demonstrated in store. But didn't go into what else the TV can offer in the way of features.
At 1.4ish grand its not exactly cheap, but am prepared to go over my original budget if the unit is great quality and as future proof as I can get for the money.
Has anyone had any dealings with this model?
Cheers

In my personal opinion, I think it's one of the sexiest TV's at the moment, I'm going to have a look at the 55" version in the next few weeks with a view to purchasing as a replacement for my 5 year old Samsung Plasma. Reviews and general consumer opinion seems positive although there are some reports of banding issues (you will see this on AV Forums), but with anything like this it's always better to view the TVs with your own eyes rather than going by other peoples opinions.

Thanks for that. Did you read the comments about banding across the screen? Sounds a bit worrying. I know my luck; I'll get one that suffers badly from it http://www.avforums.com/forums/3d-tvs/1442614-sams...

Panasonic TX-P42VT30, before you spend any money check this out as our demo one is sensational after its
running in period, as good as the much vaunted Pioneer Kuro.
It's very slim at 33mm, comes with a 5 year guarantee if bought from a Panasonic dealer (not a shed like Comet etc)
Freeview HD, FreeSat HD, 3D 600hz, ultrafast response time,THX certification, unlimited veiwing angles, Wireless dongle and 2 pairs
of Active 3D Glasses, and Panasonics new Viera Connect internet portal and much much more...
Seriously before you throw money at the Samsung check it out at a dealer that's capable of setting it up properly.
Don't judge it in an ultrabright shop environment try and get a demo in a dealer that can put in realistic lighting conditions
because this is why some plasma sets look poor.
Also in the next 4-8 weeks or so Panasonic are launching 50/55/65 inch versions of this set.

Just bought the 46" D8000. Replaced a Sony 32" CRT, so a lot of upgrade for me :-)
Bought it 50% on looks (by FAR the sexiest TV I've eve seen, bar none) and 50% cause it did stuff most other good TVs do...
Straight out of the box it looks bloody fantastic. Only got it yesterday morning and have a 3month old, so little time to play.
Digital picture looks very good - looks very 'real' - some sets I've seen look very 'CGI' (is the only way I can describe it)
Sky (normal - not ordered HD yet - job for today...) - also looks good, though my Sky box is from 1973 and the scart lead probably cost me 12pence, so not really cutting edge source feed :-)
Played Dark Night Blu ray through my PS3 (as everyone seems to review with this disc) and pretty stunning. Black blacks all across the picture, great viewing angle and err, it's pretty damned sexy bit of kit.
Even the sound impressed me for such a thin TV. Very listenable to...not stunning obviously, but no worse than my old CRT!
Now just got to work out how to use it and 'tune' the picture. Was hoping someone on here had some good settings for me to try. Reviews give it a 7 or 8 out of 10 'out of the box' and 9 or 10 out of 10 when 'tuned'...any ideas on starting points??
