OIl coolers - how tough are they?

Due to a lack of space and not wanting to block the radiator any more than already is, I'm thinking of hanging an oil cooler right out in front, under the bumper. Well, under where the bumper would be. Obviously I don't want it to get damaged and loose all my oil. Other cars and some bikes have the oil cooler in vunerable positions. Is it a stupid idea?

Fatigue from vibration is more of a problem than stone impacts in my experience... should be fine if well supported/isolated

Get yourself some good AV mounts (like a rad has) and the cooler will be as reliable as the rad!
