Alfa Spider (gtv) gearbox noise

Hi all, i have a 2002 Alfa Spider 3.0 V6 24V and it has developed a nastly rattling noise when you coast along off the power. I've had it on a ramp at the garage this morning and you can clearly hear something is amiss in the gearbox. I have 2 questions.

1. Has anyone had a similiar problem before (and what did you end up doing)?
2. Does anyone know of a good gearbox specialist in the South West (Bristol / Taunton area)

Have you searched the alfaowner.com forum? Far more technical advice on there than here.

Gearboxs are pretty solid - more likely to be something else attached / in the vicinity of it, like an exhaust mount going or similar.
