honestly, how some of these cars pass the noise test i wonder....... i bet that will be over 99db on the static test, i know for a fact a 599 GTO is louder than 98db on static tests as i sprint with one reguarly, it is just under the 105db limit where we run, so ill be REALLY interested to see where the 599 gto and lfa register on the DB meter.

If it's the same guy who drove the ISF I hope he pays better attention to his lane discipline.
Last time cost me a respray and a screen.

NOT good...... honstly would it really hurt for brunters to use one of the large sweeps on the track once a week??

jez, i cant lie, it worries me that someone elses incompetance can cause damage to my p & J, this will encourage me to really hang back for a good few runs to workout where these damger points are :-)

I reckon you're car should be quick enough to get in front of most things wink You'll only get stone chips if the car in front sweeps across in front of you, and as you say if you hang back far enough then no problem!

Forgive my naivety, but why do drivers change lanes? I'm not looking forward to getting mine smashed to smithereens by 150+ mph boulders!

I have attended millions of Vmax's and only ever had damage the once so don't fret too much fellas, most participants are finesmile
You really have 2 choices, drop back (my favored method) or get ahead to reduce the chance of it happening toosmile

It is the same driver! His first Vmax that one. Please feel free to give him both barrells when you see him. I've 'addressed' this little issue since. Sorry.

For others - Yeah, the only way you can avoid the chips is to hang back enough to allow the bouncing chips to settle. But if that is done, it's no issue.

You bet the LFA ain't gonna be going anywhere two abreast!!

Yup thx Jez, as you'll all know from the briefing (if you have been before), we emphasise that you must stick to the lane you're set off in and not deviate from this. this is reiterated when you are set off by the marshalls. I set this rule from the very first vmax.

If someone changes lane then yes the chances for stonechips to occur increase but brunters is huge and you shouldnt be near the rear of another car at all.

If the two cars are close ie. neck and neck before turn in at the bottom bend - stay in your lane! Furthermore cars have been known to lose it on entry to the runway...not good if the two cars are close - there simply is no need to be close. It's plenty wide enough.

AFAIC, the fastest line is the one Dazren showed me, stay left, turn in, get the car set, gun it, clip the far apex, then take as far an arc as possible to the outside of the runway, then get in and stay in the lane you started off in. Newbies will quickly know where to position themselves from the familiarisation lap and single car runs when the runs commence. Not much of a problem if you start in the left lane, however see above, but if you start in the right hand lane IMO you can only adopt this technique if the other car running at the same time as you is well clear and in front of you.

Craig, if you have any issues with this ^ just let me know and I'll edit it.

I popped an air con rad once on a Cayman from a stone flicked up by Paul's Scooby. Just bad luck that time. frown

edited: Also looking forward to seeing and hearing(!!) the LFA. Question for Pete, does that mean you're not taking the Gen 2 GT3? If so - frown

Seems common sense to me.
If you want to take a wide arc going onto the main runway from the inside hang bak a bit before the first turn to make sure the other car is ahead of you.

what you should also bear in mind is some folk are of the opinion that entry speed to the straight has no bearing on your top speed (just thought I'd throw that out there biggrin )

I hear you, it doesn't stop you trying though! Entry speed/corners is what it's all about in non-turbo's... hehe
