If you remove the seat from the car, you can take some of the foam base out of the seat.. Makes it abit lower and more comfortable.
Some mount the seat to the floor and remove the little bumps that the seat usually mounts too, but I'd imagine you need to weld in some proper plates for that to be safe.

Jonny, more comfortable through being lower? Would a man of my stature need all the padding? Some mount the seat to the floor and remove the little bumps that the seat usually mounts too, but I'd imagine you need to weld in some proper plates for that to be safe.

I could do with getting the seat a tad lower, is there a guide anywhere on Nutz?

You've leather seats haven't you? I'm not sure if it works on those, I've the normal cloth ones you see.
On the base of the seat, theres a bump where your arse sits, and so if you cut out that whole section, the bump sits lower and so you sit more into the seat, if that makes sense.

Exuse the full stops, they're just there to space it out.. Imagine thats a side on view of the seat, you cut out some of the bum section so you sit lower.

It makes alot more sense when you actually take the seat out.

LOL. In all seriousness though, you've got quite broad shoulders. Did you not find them a bit uncomfortable?
I have a pair (maybe 2 pairs!) of VX220 / S2 Elise seats available soon!

Yeah I thought they were pretty comfortable, I'll have another go before I lay out the reddies for a set though.
In the Ron Champion "build your own sportscar" book (or it may be the later Haynes only version)there are instructions on fabricating your own seat from a sheet of Aluminium. More complex than a foamectomy or replacement seats, but at least it could be made to custom fit and you can choose your own level of padding. Just a thought.

Have you ever owned a Chevrolet Impala?Edit. Just had a flashback. Is that where he gets the seats from in the original book?

Did the foamectomy on mine the day after I bought it...
Took about 30 minutes, and has made both the lateral support and the position perfect, with if anything an increase in comfort.
Don't know what it's like to do on leather seats, but even if it takes triple the time it's worth doing imo. Damn site cheaper than a set of buckets!!
For info, once the seat base was uncovered, I partially lifted out the foam and chopped out all of the bump clearly visible on the bottom of the foam.
Also took out the central backrest pad, but would say that I'm a racing snake in build, and would probably put it back in if I were not much bigger....
