which brake pads

Can anyone recommend any brake pads that are good for fast road use and the odd track day.

Been considering mintex 1144 material or ferodo ds2500, its for a road going group b rally car from the mid 80's with rally spec running gear, 4 pot AP racing calipers and big ventilated discs etc

DS2500 have been good for me - very pleased....

I used Mintex 1144's for a while but on their 3rd track day, after only 3500 miles use in total they started to crack and break up, it was a wet day too so wasn't pushing really hard. I won't use them again.

I'm now using EBC yellow stuff and these are much better.

Edit to say the 1144's were on a Saxo VTS running 206 GTI calipers and 266mm ventilated disks with AP Racing 5.1 fluid and braided brake lines.

I find Yellow stuffs very good, I've combined the Yellow stuffs with 5.1 fluid and they are awesome on Standard 280mm discs, at Castle Combe I was standing on them about 15-20 laps at a time braking into Quarry from 110mph and obviously a bit more abuse into Tower and they did not fade the slightest...... just stank the car out (you know your doing well when you can smell the brakes inside the car )

also impressed me at Abingdon a few weeks ago although there arn't as many heavy braking zones at Abingdon as there are at Castle Combe.

Not sure if EBC make any pads for my car, i think its a choice between Ferodo, Mintex or Pagid

I may plump for the Ferodo DS2500, cost more than the Mintex but would seem well worth it, cant put a price on your brakes

I think i heard somewhere that the 1155's compound is realy only suited to full race use, can apparently glaze over in fast road use, however, i stand to be corrected.

Good recommendation IMO. I've gone one step up from the HP plus and bought the Hawk blues. These provide serious stopping performance but create a lot of dust. Performance wise I'd rate them on par with the previous Pagid RS15s I was using but they come in at roughly half the price of the Pagids (partly because I bought them directly from the US).

Just had a look at the cambridge motorsport web site, the hawk blues do sound like a good pad, getting a bit cofused dot com now

Had a chat with them today, Hawk dont do pads for the car, looks like its the Ferodo ds2500 that i will go for.

Shame as they are good pads.

They are also Yank and therefor, no doubt have a limited application.
