Heads up for new builders
Discussion
Did an inspection after the first run out with my GTR.
Found that the bottom edge of the inner rear wheel arch had been sitting on the handbrake cable. Problem is now fixed by cutting away some glassfibre but the damage to the outer sheath of the cable is annoying.
You cannot see the problem during build unless you climb inside the engine bay and close the cover but you can feel it by laying on the floor with your arm up in the innards.
It may not happen on all builds but is worth checking.

Have also found 3 oil leaks and a dead alternator but that's another story.

Hi Steve,
Congratulations on the registration! Sorry for the late response. I just got my Sports registered this week as well! Yes, 5 years, in the making, I know. The car was just sitting in the garage collecting dust for 2 of those years though.
I was somewhat carefull in routing my cables, but had a similar issue with my hydraulic brake hose. Sorry to hear about the alternator. My alternator didn't go out, but my starter is getting hot and needs insulating. Couldn't restart the car once the engine was warmed up. The injection still needs further tuning, though, as I used up .5 gallon of fuel within 5 miles city driving. I hadn't driven the car in a while, and it was fun to hear the ol' girl purr again. What I really need is a cushion underneath my thighs. My legs were getting a little tired after just 5 miles. Also need to see about angling the brake and clutch pedal away from each other. My big, clumsy, American feet were throwing a fit. All in all, I had a real fun time driving the car yesterday. Very gratifying.
Cheers!
