Hi guys,

I'm looking for recommendations for a cheap / good bodyshop to repair my mk2 MX5, which has rust coming through on the driver's side sill frown

I'm based in Newbury, and happy to travel to a point if someone will do a decent job. Also, does anyone know how much this might cost? I know with rust it's always dependant on how bad it is underneath, but a ballpark figure would be helpful.

Cheers smile

Simon

Well overdue this, but nonetheless...

Steve (sabre) has done a lovely job repairing the sill on my MX5. The end result looks fantastic! He also treated inside the sill to help prevent a return of the tin worm. The price was very reasonable.

Steve's also a thoroughly nice bloke, and was happy to talk me through the process and answer my questions. He also showed me some pictures he'd taken of the process which were interesting to see.

So, i'd happily recommend Steve to anyone in the area who'd like a great job done by a real enthusiast, who seem to take great pride in his work.

Cheers Steve thumbup

I've heard good things about Garath at mx5 restorer. He's based near Lewes... Which is on a straight train line to Victoria. So easy for people in London to get to and drop the car off at.

He recently did a full refurb of a mk1 RS and it was stunning. I'll be taking my mk2 to him in the autumn, as I have rusty sills too.

Honestly don't think you can go wrong with Headley Bodyshop (Now actually based in Newbury, opposite Downs Carpets) - Speak to Frazer Phipps (Owner) and i'm sure he will be able to help, he's by far the best bodywork guy around this area that i've used and his paint work is absolute quality! I know countless cars he's worked on and you'd never be able to tell (Porsche boxster, Audi RS6, BMW 535D, VW Golf) I detail cars for a hobby so have a pretty good eye for good / bad paintwork...

I use P&T autos in Bucklebury ,used them a few times , often cheaper than a smart repair, got my Octy going in there soon for some bumper scrapes

Sometimes I love PH, and I know that this thread will be useful as a reference in times beyond now, but...
