Looking at buying this car, What do you guys think?
Discussion
AS per title, interested in buying this Impreza as its an itch ive wanted to scratch for years. I dont see me keeping it for more than a yr due to the arse reaming petrol consumption it will have, but, alas an itch is an itch!
SO what im asking is what should i be looking at on either cars? In your eyes do you think either could be a dog?
Both could benefit from a few cosmetic tweaks i agree, im more a fan of the spolierless look.
Any comments welcome.
Cheers.

Hi, I know what you mean about the "itch". I had one, and scratched it good. Sold my ST170 to get an RB5 3 years ago, my thoughts being the same as yours - petrol going up, even if I only own it for a year, at least I have had my dream car.
Still got it 3 years later. Yes, it costs a fair bit to run and service but it still makes me smile every time I drive it.
Are you after the power or something special? For £5k you could get a limited edition classic Impreza that should hold its value a bit better, especially if left standard.

or, this is a nice one and lower mileage.

I reckon you could pick this up for about £5500 for cash. 2002 Bugeye STi. It looks an absolute peach with low mileage for the year at 77K, and FSSH (full subaru service history). This is a bloody steal!!
They handle and stop well out of the box and are very easily and affordably tuneable (Open Source Remap) to around 330-350bhp max on the standard turbo and injectors. With just an exhaust and air filter/airbox modification plus your remap you will be well on your way to some seriously reliable fun.

I only read the first couple of lines of the add and in my excitement posted. I've read some more now
It's already had a fair few mods done to it so in fact it really is a fecking steal!! I wish i was a bit more flushed just now because i'd be having that!!
I reckon there's a bit more reliable power to be had from those mods with some more ECU tweaking.
Go on and buy it....You know you want to!!

Tempting as it may be, im really not keen on silver cars in general, i know its being pedantic.
i may have to trawl the classifieds once again.
Engine wise is there much difference betwen classic shape and bug eye? (00 vs 02)
Cheers!
All 2ltr turbo blocks are basically the same shape inside and out with some internal revisions over the years across the range.

2001 - 2005 (Newage) onwards 2Ltr STi have a very strong semi-closed deck block and strong pistons, rods and crank. Put it this way....There are a small handful of 2Ltr V.8 (2003-2005) STi's putting out over 500bhp on standard internals.
All i will say is, try doing that on any 2ltr classic with standard internals, even a V.2 - V.4 Classic STi or 22b with their closed deck blocks.
