Annoying buzzing alaram when I slow down in my XJ?
Discussion
I have just bought a 2004 Jaguar XJ6, Its got a couple of issues, the main one being extremely worn Brakes and pads all round.
Some times when the car slows down and nearly comes to a stop an annoying buzzing alarm sounds in the cab. It stops if I knock it out of gear and starts again when I put it back into gear or reverse, There is no explanation for the alarm on the dash board.
I phone my local jag dealer who said they had never heard of the problem.
Anybody got any ideas?
Cheers Stuart

Do you have parking sensors, if they are faulty .. like mine I get the beep. It kicks in at 9 MPH or lower. There is a button on the roof near the rear view mirror to allow you to disable. On my car I know the front sensor is faulty, and this is the trigger .. even though the rears are ok. BTW this is quite a common fault. Also you have to switch the parking sensors of each time you use the car, and not to forget they are off when reversing !
The only other thing I can think of is seat - belt warning, which also kicks off when the car is in motion, although this is a two tone chime. If you have this could be a seat sensor.
PS If it is the parking thing, give the sensors a good clean with a toothbrush (old one) ! as loose bits of debris often cause issues.

Can I suggest you join the Jaguar forum, and don't be too disheartened.

Yes I have the parking sensor problem but this one is diffrent, and I did play with the seat belts and I got a diffrent tone.
This one is more basic and a less plesant noise. I'm just tring to figure out what the hell it is before I pour all my money in to it. ITs been loved but I think its last owner has neglected it.

Sometimes my sensors work perfectly, at other times not. Doesn't seem to be connected to dirt or rain. Just a loose wire maybe?Gassing Station | Jaguar | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
