12, 15 and 24 gone AWOL
Discussion
For about the last week Freeview 12 (Yesterday), 15 (Film 4) and 24 (ITV) have gone totally missing. EPG says 'No event information' and the signal srength and quality are both 0%.
I have a 'digital' aerial with small amp in the roof as the signal is split to a 15" LCD upstairs. Sometimes Freeview channels are affected by low signal strength but I gather this will be fixed when they go full strength in July.
Neighbour can get these channels and so does the TV upstairs that's connected to the same aerial. TV is Sony Bravia 40NX713, new in January. Tried auto-retuning - no difference. Tried turning off with the switch and back on - no difference.
Interestingly the frequency of all three missing channels is given as 842.004 - is this a clue? (Bloke in shop who sold it says it's the weather and it will be fine in July).
Me stumped....

Good thought, but since my last post I did a little research. I dragged the Sony upstairs and plugged it into the aerial socket that works fine with the little TV. But the missing channels did not reappear. I might conclude that either the Sony needs a stronger signal than the other one to make a picture - BUT I find it very odd that the the signal strength remains 0%. Not 40%, or 29%, or even 5%, but zero.
Still, it's only three months old so I can afford to wait until July when they put some more coal in the Freeview boilers and crank the steam pressure up a bit. If the missing channels don't appear after that, then it's Sale of Goods Act time I fear.
Any other thoughts welcome

The channels missing are all on MuxD which also includes Russia Today English (85) and Al Jazeera English (89) and other much viewed channels.
Which transmitter are you pointing at, Sudbury or Tacelneston? Sudbury is nearest to me and I can only get BBCs 1,2,& 3 on a good day (hence Freesat for me).
Try this link to check what the predicted signal strength for each Mux at your home.
(You did rescan when you dragged your TV upstairs didn't you)

That adds up - I took Al Jazeera out of the menu but 85 is missing too. FlossyThePig said:

Sudbury I think. But until last week I got all the channels well enough, 50-80% signal strength.FlossyThePig said:

Ah, no. But then the little TV hasn't been retuned since it was fitted a few years ago and gets the offending channels. Hence I don't think the frequencies have changed, just gone.Simpo Two said:

) Still trying to decide if to bite the bullet and go Freesat or hang it out til next March when we are fully powered up.Right, fixed it!
Whilst hunting around for a reset button as The Burg suggested, I wandered up the digital channels and saw there were 939 of them! Many of these had programmes associated with them, duplicates of the ones on the lower channels. I hunted up and down and found the following:
Yesterday: 899
Film4: 909
ITV4: 919
And there they were - simply in a different place and different frequency! So it was then a matter of adding these to the list, and then using the channel sorting function to put them in slots 12, 15 and 24.
The new frequency is 706.171Mhz.
Wonder why auto-tune didn't find them?

If you do a full reset these will move into the proper position. Re-tune doesn't delete the old ones or some such stuff. Couldn't find a reset button/menu option anywhere! No mention of it in the puny manual nor in the built-in jobbie. The troubleshooting sections told me to check the transmitter power and/or get a bigger aerial - ie NFG.Anyway, it works and that's the main thing. A mystery as to what caused the issue though.
Depends on what you are using to retune. PVR STB's Lose Favourites and the recording schedule if you do a "Default Settings reset" or "Automatic retune". It will however find all the channels. Freeview tuners in TV's and Normal non recording Set Top Boxes just clear the existing Channel set and replace it.
My Preferred option is to find out what the Number of the Mux is and clear that and do a manual rescan on that Mux. For Example the HD channels are all on channel 39 in my area hence if something goes wrong I do a Manual retune on that Channel only.

It's a Sony Bravia 40NX713. Auto-tune didn't find the channels on the other frequency and I couldn't find a 'reset' option. It all used to be so simple. One frequency, one station, sorted.
