Rubber washers-air filter mounting brackets

Hi All,

I have just stripped down the plate and brackets that hold the air filter, to refurbish the rusty metal. When taking off the brackets,where they attach to the chassis, the rubber mounting washers have disintegrated! Has anyone any idea where I can get them from/what the part number is. If I can not get them I may have to fabricate some from rubber sheeting.

Think they should be a "bobbin" like this.......



Commonly known and sold as Mini exhaust bobbins at any motor factor/car spares outlet, very cheap but will be 5/16unf thread. Similar items are available in M8 metric thread but may be a little more expensive.

Having said all that, When I re-made my support brackets with some stainless steel I used some thick rubber washers, about 16mm, (compressor mounting feet from an air conditioner) with a through bolt and a nylok nut. With the nuts just nipped up they seem to give about the right amount of wobble!

Hi Guys thanks for the replys. The rubber mountings in question are more like a grommits and they are used to secure the pipercross air filter mountings to the chassis (not the exhaust)there are three of them.Sorry for the confusion.......can you help?

No, The holes in the metal bracket, at the chassis end, are bigger and the rubber grommet fits into the hole and forms a washer on both sides. The bolt then goes through it and is attached to the chassis with a nyloc nut.

Different to mine then, or could have been changed by someone in the past. Holes in my original brackets were quite large but thought that was TVR "design tolerence".
Sounds like you just need some straight forward grommets, Maplins, car accessory shop, motor factor, Ebay etc ?

Personnaly I'd consider the "exhaust bobbins" they should offer better viabration resistance for the air flow metres

Bought this little selection for a couple of quid at an Autojumble....

I have 3 mini exhaust bobbin type mounts. No idea where to get them though
