Engine dimensions

He guys,

I am thinking of building my Datsun 260Z for the track and am considering to use a AJP V8 engine and gearbox.

I'm still gathering info but couldn't find any info of engine dimensions (heights, width etc) Also I need to know what kind of oilpan combinations are ther to choose from (if any?)

Can somebody give me this info and I also in need of a service manual, so I have something to read ;-P

It's a great engine, amazingly light and an absolute beastie by any standards. I really can't see why more people don't use them in specials.

Regarding the sump, there's only one option unless you can find a complete dry sump set up from a Tuscan racer. It's cast alloy so would be difficult to replace.

I just had a look at that thread.....140cm long, 52cm wide and 74cm tall.

140cm is waaaay to long! That must be with the gearbox shirley?

At almost a meter-and-a-half? Yep i'd have to agree with you on this. ^


I'll measure my one later as it's just sitting there on an engine dolly. The measurement will be from the front of the crank pully to the back (or outside face) of the flywheel.

My old 4.2 measures (all allowing a little extra breathing room): L = 600mm, W = 520 (excluding water rails & exhaust manifolds), H = 580 (excluding inlet gubbins and ancillaries).

Does anyone also have the dimensions of the oilpas, is it a frontsump, middle or rear? Need to see if it clears the steering rack offcourse.....

Take a look at these Pic's. PAS and Oil Pump are low down on the RH side of the engine. Have you got an Engine already?
