When we installed the Stack unit, it was decided to go with the Porsche gearbox pickup mated to the Stack pulse amplifier for the speedometer. The puilse amp was mounted to a spare lug behind the fuse panel, with the red indicator light showing for adjustment. Alol worked well until the hot driving weather arrived last year, and the speedo wouldn't work until the sensitify pot was re-trimmed. When cooler weather arrived, it stopped working until re-adjusted. Talked to Stack a lot about this, and they finally sent me another amplifier, which is doing the same thing.
I now have the amp mounted above the frame tube close to my left knee (LHD), and I am keeping a tiny Philips screwdriver handy to make adjustments from the cockpit
if necessary. Drove the car 100 miles this morning and the speedo worked fine after I adjusted it before the drive.
You have to have the touch of a brain surgeon for the adjustments.
Has anyone else had this problem?
I probably should have gone to the CV bolts sensing devise mounted to the gearbox, but the Porsche pickup appeared a lot neater.

Hi Jack,
Sent you an email detailing my maiden voyage in my car. Went really well.
I have this same, dumb, little amplifier. You don't even want to see what mine looks like now! I stripped out the philips indentation. I've ripped the cover off of it and it currently is covered in duck tape. I hate that tiny little amplifier. The amplifier is encased in a water proof wax. I'm not sure why your having these problems. You get pretty extreme temperatures compared to mine. I doubt mine has ever seen 30 deg. F. I also have mine connected to the factory, porsche, sender. I think I get 4 pulses per revolution with mine. That little magnet sender picks up on the diff bolts inside the G50.
I'm very impressed with my stack unit, the wiring loom is exceptional, the display is terrific, I just hate the amplifier plastic screw pot. They should have used a metal one instead(in my opinion).
Cheers!

Congrats on your driving the car legally. Will follow up your email.
Re the Stack, I get 8 pulses per wheel revolution. What was happening was if the sensitivity was set for ambient temp, the wiring area where the amp was located, would evenually heat up from radiator heat, and it would stop working. If you set it for driving temp, it would not work when the car was first driven in the day. A medium balance could not be found. It worked all day today since the amp is pretty well in the cockpit. You would think there would be more latitude for adjustment.

Jack!
Try to put amplifier as close to sensor as possible and run amplified signal long way to Stack.

Thanks
Will try that next if this new position doesn't work

The amplifier isn't designed correctly. Automobile have temperature extremes which makes the electronics see essentially "military" temp ranges. Many engineers don't know this and use weenie parts. It also sounds like it's simply designed wrong. Assuming the sensor puts out a sin wave, the amplifier must stay "centered" on the signal and it sounds like it itn't.

About the only thing you can do is find a different brand, make your own, or keep complaining and hope the vendor fixes it.
