passat dsg 170
Discussion
I hated DSG with a passion.
I had an A3 sportback DSG for three years (company car)
When I first got it, I was blinded by the novelty and thought "this is great"
Within weeks, certain things that it does really started to bug me and I was stuck with it.
I just ended up shoving it into 'D' and treating it as a full auto.
The 'manual' setting is an absolute joke.
But some people think DSG is wonderful, so go figure!
I'd suggest an extended test-drive, as long as you can get.

I think it is intended to be a full auto, but like most autos on the market, the option is there for you to override it. (in this case i assume it was flappy paddles)I had an A3 sportback DSG for three years (company car)

My biggest gripe was that 'manual' mode is no such thing. If you get remotely naughty with the revs, it will still change up for you.
Utter pain in the bum.
But the likes of 'Revo' will sell you software that cancels this and means you can hold a gear.
There were other issues, like the fact it's jerky in traffic etc.
I had my own idea what DSG meant;
Distinctly S**t Gearbox.
A normal Passat is a beige cardigan of a car.
A plain vanilla car.
But the Passat CC is a lovely car, inside and out.
Still a bit of a turgid drive, but it looks stunning and looks like it costs £10k more than it does.
I'm under no illusions that when I park my white 320ED next to my colleague's black Passat CC, you'd find it hard to believe mine was £30k+ and his was £22k.
