Removing a hedge in Photoshop....?

I know my way vaguely around Photoshop, however I have been asked to mock something up and I'm not quite sure how to do it. I haven't taken the shots yet, and would appreciate your advice.....
Imagine a large and wide lawn, the width of a football pitch. At the opposite end to the photographer is a ten foot hedge. Beyond this hedge, out of view, is another acre or so of land. What would it look like without the hedge?
Do I try to take two photographs?

I would say take two photos. One of the initial photo position and one of the poisiton behind the offending headge. Then look at blending the two.
However, this may not work as the images are taken at different focal points.
The only other choice would be to spend a while in PS with the clone tool to ensure a seemless joint between the two. And by a while I mean a few hours (depending on what size the final image will be).
