Hi,

About t sell my Alfa 147 for something a bit better on fuel/tax/insurance & like the look for a Focus, there sees to be quite a lot under £1,400 but after looking at Parkers/HonestJohns it seems that £1,700 is the going rate for good conditioned Focus's. Whatcar says around £800 tho. I never know which one's are accurate.

A lot of what i've seen for around £1000-400 have lowish mileage, MOT/TAX, FSH etc etc. So what do you reckon? is this /too/ cheap?

Looking at the early 1.6's with under 100k.

Cheers

Prices vary wildly.

Just get a list of common faults and buy on condition rather than age.

I bought my 51 Plate 2L Zetec for £1290 last August, its a bit rough around the edges, but still good value for money.

The 1.8 seems to be the best all rounder, plenty of them about.

i've been trying to buy a cheap focus @ 2.5K. i've seen them all.. from what looks really clean inside and out but lots of missing history with lots of miles. to low mileage cars that looks like they have done 3x what is stated.. but yet the service and mots stack up..

Bought a Fiesta in the end but thanks anyway. I'm surprised by the Focus's value, I always thought you could pick up a minter for about a grand! Not hard to believe especially when Ford have their newish mondeo's going for that.

As above i'm very surprised at the prices! And there's plenty of them about. The focus for me, just may be the hardest car to gauge a price on. biggrin You can have a good search & everything will stack up but there's obviously something they're not telling you.
