hi guys recently I have got a new noise and I am pretty sure it is coming from my fantastic mufflers supplied by GD.
Is it possible that these guys after doing 3500km are already free of any padding ? In fact the noise can only be generated
my some loose panel inside the muffler. This whole exhaust system has got me nothing but trouble, so it seems I will need some
new mufflers any time soon. What is a good recommendation ?

Look for some German technology perhaps? When you see what certain tuners do for the 911 and its rear engined exhaust, there must be some long term solutions around. Maybe more expensive but probably cheaper on the long run than having to intervene after a couple of 1k kms

I have to agree - my GD set up is excellent. Interested in a link pip though - do you have any pics you can post please.

Sounds like a baffle has broken loose inside.
Check all round the outer skin of the box to see if there is evidence of broken spot welds. If so then it may be possible to drill some holes in the outer skin and weld the baffle in place.

if its those shiney Summit things still they are absolute rubbish!! 3500k is good going, when you fire the car up with new ones fitted and shine a light behind the tail pipes you can see all the filling coming out!! I would not bother re-packing those things.

Id grab some genuine Ultima ones and get an exhaust company to fit some removeable plates on the top..I am well happy with mine and the reduced noise every time i repack.

thanks for the advice, when I got the mufflers I could clearly see the fibers being pushed out, I have the faint idea that the
lack of padding also changed my complete velocity setup hence the initial map was showing some errors now that the engine could breathe more openely.
I will leave it as it is planning to put straight hoses anyway, YES IT WILL BE LOUD !
