Introduction and my cars

Just thought I'd make a quick post to say "hi"; have posted a couple of times before but nothing about my cars as of yet.
Anyway, I'm a 21 year old data analyst from Exmouth and so far my car history consists of:
Rover 214 (had for a year before encountering a tree when I was 19)
Vauxhall Vectra 1.6 Premier (had for a few months after bumping the Rover)
Vauxhall Vectra 2.2 SRi 150 (had for over a year before it snapped the cam chain)
Toyota MR2 MKII (bought as a project when I still had the SRi. Fixing it wasn't as fun as I hoped so I sold it a couple of months later for a huge loss).
And currently I have this, a BMW 328i Coupe:
Only really bought it as I needed something quickly after my Vectra broke - it was cheap to buy and insure and is pretty good fun although I don't feel that attached to it, hence the bird crap and abundance of dirt on it.
Then yesterday me and my girlfriend went to pick this up (it's her dream car, but as only I can drive at the moment I'll be looking after it for a little while):
Ultimately the MG will have a chrome bumper conversion and a set of wire wheels fitted, but it has 12 months MOT, 6 months tax and works fine, so no major plans right away. Plus it only cost £1700, which seemed pretty good.
Now just got to save for my TVR Chimaera or Cerbera!

Thanks for the welcomes - been meaning to get rid of the chrome indicators, got the standard ones here so it'd just a case of getting motivated and swapping them over. Will do it soon, I promise!
Really looking forward to getting the bumper conversion done on the MG, but as it's not really my car it will have to wait a few months yet

Thanks again for the welcomes and suggestions - will try to encourage my girlfriend to get the bumper stuff sooner as it will look way better.
Will look into OEM clear indicators for the BMW as I prefer them to the orange ones that would normally be on there. Also going to be refitting the standard exhaust to it soon as I've currently got an Alpina system on it, which due to hitting a patch of black ice back in December and parking it (reasonably neatly) on the verge, is now dented and rattles

Nice B, pretty much the same spec as one of mine but looks in better nic. Got any interior shots?
If you chrome bumper the B lowering it to CB height is a must. It's also worth making a few suspension upgrades whilst your at it. Most people start with a rear spax kit, 3/4inch front anti roll bar and update all your bushes to polly ones. Makes a great difference to the cars road manners!

It usually ends up costing a lot more than that all together - it isn't a particularly simple conversion and you inevitably find extra bits of welding that need doing. I agree that the rubber bumper cars look far worse than the chromes (although the rubbers don't look that bad on black cars), but if I was spending the money I would just go bumper-less.Also, as someone else has already said, you should really lower it when you do the conversion. With regard to shockers (if you're considering changing), Konis are supposed to be the best.

Thanks for the suspension suggestions, definitely something we'll look into at some point. The handling is definitely a little different to previous cars I've owned!

Ah - hadn't realised welding might be required. Usually when two items need joining together I resort to duct tape, and if that doesn't work I swear at it until I get tired and give up. Will bear that in mind though for when the time comes to sort it out, thanks.Also, as someone else has already said, you should really lower it when you do the conversion. Going bumper-less involves the same work, but you save on bumper costs obviously. The front end of the rubber bumper cars was modified for the big bumpers - chassis rails come through where the grille is on chrome bumper cars and there are a couple of big holes in the front panel - and the back end is slightly different so for a decent job you have to do some welding and painting. Hadn't considered the bumper-less option, any chance of some pics to show what it would look like?

Bumper-less isn't for everyone and the front end doesn't look quite as neat. You can buy a sort of big valance for the rear end which I think looks good. I've found a couple of good photos on the web, although of a roadster.
