Only just noticed but when I start the car from cold the pressure is top of the dial 80psi odd?! After 5 mins it chills out and goes back to the middle of the dial? Is this normal??
Hi Niccy , yep fine due to the oil being a bit thicker because its cold , as the oil temp comes up it thins dropping pressure down . Yep its totally normal for it to be at a high PSI when the engine is cold. Tux is right. The oil is dense when cold so the pump needs to work harder. I get a reading of around 12PSI when the oil has warmed up to a temperature of around 80degrees. IMO you shouldnt rev the engine over 3,000rpm until the oil has warmed up to at least 60degrees.
